PostSubject: C-section mums aren't as good as natural mums   Sat Jan 14, 2012 5:33 pm

Ok, so i was having a coffee with one of my girlfriends the other day and we was just having a catchup and she told me about an experience she had the other week. She was at one of those mum & baby groups (she has a 4 month old son), and they were talking about their birth experiences. When she told her story about her having a c-section, the woman running it said "this is about birthing experiences, you had a c-section therefore you've never given birth before". Also, i've seen a LOT of mum's who have given birth naturally look down at mothers who have had a c-section, almost as if they're not "real mothers" because they didn't give birth "properly". I knew a natural mother once who actually said women who have c-sections end up being terrible mothers. I gave birth naturally, i'm just curious to see if anyone else has had any experiences like this and what your opinions are, i think it's disgusting :/

I gave birth naturally aswell,
although i think thats a load of crap + your friend never should have got frowned upon by other mums, just makes them look kinda pathetic really.
So many women have c-sections + they have them for many different reasons,
some women cant give birth naturally for health reasons.
It doesnt make them any less of a mum, + it certainly doesnt make them a terrible mum.
What way you give birth, doesnt define what sort of a mum you are, or what sort of a bond you'll have with your baby.
Its how you react + bond with baby yourself.
Giving birth is a beautiful experience + wonderful, no matter what way your baby is born into the world.
At the end of the day, a natural birth, a c-section or any other way, once that baby is born into this world, assuming there is no complications, the baby will automatically be placed on too your chest for that mother-baby bond.

Thats my opinion anyway, i dont think having a c-section makes any mother a terrible mum or less likely too bond with the baby

xxxx

I've had both m,ine naturslly and
dred ever having a C-section
it's disgusting that people have opinions
most c-sections are for emergency or medical reasons :/
to say that is bang out of order

the only people i thrown upon
are the ones that choose c-section for selfish reasons
like saving the designer vag and the fact its easier then pushing etc

i think the person running that group should be thrown out what utter noncense!! weather you have a c section or a natural birth its still bringing a baby into the world! like linda said most c sections are fore medical reasons and it needs to be done for the health of the mum or the baby, i hope your friend wasnt put down or was made to feel bad, its like that prog that was on and the wife said that mothers who have a section dont bond as well with there baby utter crap lol xxx

What does it matter how the baby was born? As long as it arrived healthy and safely. I've had a natural birth and a c section. My c section was an emergency. My baby was too big for me to deliver by myself and he got stuck. I don't understand how that makes me any less of a mum.
And as for c section mum's not bonding with their babies, that's so wrong. I bonded easier with Logan than I did with Keira (who was born naturally) in the first week or so.

People seem to think that c sections are an easy way out but it so isn't. Standing up for the first time, walking for the first time and showering for the first time after my c section was 100% worse than any labour and pushing pains I ever had. Plus the humiliation of having to have a bed bath. Seven months on, and I still get some pains now and then.

That women should not be running a mother & baby group if she doesn't understand that a c'section is still giving birth and there for your friend should have been able to tell her story not been so rudely told she wasn't allowed to be included.
I gave birth naturally, but i certainly don't look down on mother's who can't for what ever reason. Some people simply don't have a choice & they shouldn't have to be treated or spoke about any differently. I didn't bond with Eva right away, it took a few weeks because of shock & other's problems relating to her birth.
There has always been this things that some women feel like they've failed if they end up with a section. But, they haven't at all.

I gave birth naturally thank - god !
That woman should not be saying that nonsense
C-Sections are performed for certain reasoins !
My parents neighbour had to have 3 done on each of her pregnancy's as she was a big woman + her kids were 9lb +
& if i were ever pregnant again & needed one i would have no other option !
No point putting your health at risk !
But your still as good as a mother as a mother who had a vaginal birth !
Its not your fault shit happens don't it !

Thats an absolutely awful thing to say :/. Your poor friend being singled out because she had a c-section. I haven't given birth yet or had a c-section but one of my friends had an emergency c-section and shes the best mother around =]

It shouldn't make any difference how you gave birth, your a mother all the same!..Ugh!, people like that make me mad!!

ARE YOU SERIOUS?!

That's disgusting! She shouldn't be running a baby group. If I was there I would have gone absolutely mental. I don't do conflict anymore but I bloody would have then, how fucking dare she criticize somebody for the way they GAVE BIRTH. pffft xxxxxxx
