| Hi everyone,
I have a major phobia of OTHER PEOPLE vomitting, and am getting so worried about stories I've heard about the amount of women that get sick after birth. I am paranoid to the extent of asking for a home birth, it's that bad.
I can just about cope with the thought of women in the next private room vomitting during labour, but the thought of being moved on to a maternity ward after birth is freaking me out big time.
Just wondered what everyone's experiences of this are? |

| do you mean during labour or after birth?
I know a lot of ladies are sick due to the pain and also the gas can make some nauseous.
Im sure if you are in a private room and are in labour yourself them you wont really hear much of someone being sick.
I myself cannot handle myself or others being sick and will be sick if i witness or smell sick! Best get over that one eh? lol.
Once back on the ward with other mums, I would doubt very much they would be vomitting on the ward due to child birth.
I would try not to worry about it and deal with it if its an issue at the time but I really wouldnt worry, If a mum is sick on the ward and keeps being sick they would no doubt put her in a private room or the mum herself would go to the bathroom.

| I've never really heard of woman being sick after birth an I'm sure they would get put in private room as new born babies would be in the same ward and would be a health hazard to the newborns. Try not to stress about it hun I'm sure everything will be fine xxx __________________________ |

| Not many people are sick after they give birth..and if they are im pretty sure they wouldnt be moved onto a maternity ward. When i gave birth in hospital i was in a labour room was sick ALL the way through labour and as soon as baby was born at 1.15am we were washed and dressed and moved to a recovery room by 3am..i was never taken to a ward.

| Thanks for the replies, it's helping put my mind at ease a little. It's more on the ward I'm worried about - if I hear someone be sick I'm off like a gazelle! lol

| i was sick after birth but that was just the injection you get to help the placenta come away... but that was straight after. i was fine within an hour. at which time you would never be put on the ward. think mums would be past that stage by then so dont worry. xx __________________________ Sean Boyle My Bestfriend, Boyfriend, Fiance, Everything o2-o2-o7 5years of happiness ♥

| I was sick during labour but not after... I think it was the gas and air that caused it. And no one on my wards were sick after either. __________________________ Keira Lynn Gibson - 23.08.07 - 10.48am - 7lbs 13.5oz - 53cmNatural Delivery Logan Steven Paul Gibson - 16.06.11 - 3.28pm - 10lbs 7oz - 59cmEmergency C-Section |

| I was sick due to the injection i was given to get the after birth out, it lasted about 5 mins and then i was eating toast and chatting to people. You won't see other women being sick, if they are feeling unwell they usually have their curtains around them and you can keep your's around your bed for privacy.
They usually keep you in the delivery room for so long after giving birth, & if your feeling unwell i don't think they are allowed to move you on to the ward for a while.
Try not to worry too much & tbh after you've had the baby you won't notice anything going on around you, other then your baby. For the life of me couldn't tell you about the other women or what they did in the 24 hours after.
